Charlotte gospel music producer Cedric Thompson picked up some coveted hardware Sunday night at the 52nd Grammy Award.

Thompson, who co-produced the all-star gospel CD “Oh Happy Day,” won the "Best Traditional Gospel Album" category.

Among the stars featured on the album were Queen Latifah, Mavis Staples, Jon Bon Jovi, Joss Stone and Michael McDonald.

The project was nominated (but did not win) in two additional categories: Best R&B Performance By A Duo Or Group with Vocals ("Higher Ground," featuring Robert Randolph & The Clark Sisters) and Best Gospel Performance ("I Believe," featuring Jonny Lang with the Fisk Jubilee Singers).

Thompson was last nominated for a Grammy in 2003 for his work on the album "Twinkie Clark and Friends: Live in Charlotte."
