Dream a bigger dream
The year-end holidays, with the exception of maybe the Super Bowl, are perhaps the
greatest marketing opportunity of the year.
“Black Friday” sales suggest that if we get up early and stand in line we will come home with higher-dollar merchandise for a fraction of the cost. Even though the tactic rarely produces the volume to meet the demand, we are now present in the store and we are prime to hear the pitch.
More often than not, a sales person skillfully breaks the news that the product we thought we wanted is all sold out, replaced by something better for a slightly higher price. In that moment, we may convince ourselves that we even deserve the higher-end product. How many times have you showed up to the store seeking one thing, and walked away with something better, feeling good about spending more?
We are willing to trust the marketer that there is something better that we deserve, yet we fall silent when the Lord attempts to show us the same in our lives. The still small messages have often served as advertisements from heaven, designed to get us to show up to hear more. Confirmations have encouraged us, yet, we limit ourselves.
We are pricked with the thought that we can be a successful entrepreneur, writer, Grammy Award-winning vocalist, etc., but when we start moving in the direction of what God has called us to do, we stop. We don’t realize that the dream was just the initial message, designed to get our attention to come on in and hear the higher-end version that God has for our lives.
As we begin this new year, ask yourself: Is there a message that has been playing primetime in your life that you have not shown up for? Is there an advertisement from heaven that you didn’t tune into?
Our belief system as it connects to our destiny has to upgrade! We have to know, as we enter this New Year, that the best is waiting for us to arrive.
Malachi 3:10 reminds us that when we answer what we are being asked to do, the return on that investment is greater than anything we could ever think or imagine.
Time out for handling our lives the same old way. It is time to step up and boldly show up and stand in line to hear more about the product yet to get in our lives. We must be open for the upgrade and stop settling for second best. We must stop limiting ourselves with excuses that do nothing more that keep us stuck.
This year I will get up early, just as I have for those holiday sales. I will stand in line with my prayers in my hand, no matter how long I have to stand there. This year, I will believe that my dream was only the tactic to get me in the place to be open for the upgrade for a top of the line destiny.
