The economy has forced New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in suburban Atlanta to make cuts, according to media reports that quote a statement released by the church.

New Birth has laid off two full-time employees and reduced salaries by 10 percent.

"Like numerous other churches and charitable organizations across Georgia and the rest of the country, New Birth and its faith community have been impacted by the nationwide downturn in the economy," the statement read statement.

Media reports could not confirm whether senior pastor Eddie Long's salary took a hit.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that New Birth attendance has declined since Long became embroiled in allegations of sexual misconduct.

Long, a native of Charlotte who is married with children, has been sued by four men who accuse him of coercing them into sexual relations.

The Georgia church is the parent of New Birth-Charlotte in Huntersville.
