Pastor Clifford Jones of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church will be speaking at Forest Hill Church on Saturday, June 11, at 6 p.m. and again on Sunday, June 12, at 9:30 a.m. and 11:15 a.m.

The Rev. Clifford Jones, left, and the Rev. David Chadwick, right.

In return, Pastor David Chadwick of Forest Hill will address the congregation at Friendship on Sunday, June 12, at the 7:30 a.m., 9:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. services.

The pulpit switch is part of a citywide clergy sermon exchange sponsored by Mecklenburg Ministries, Crossroads Charlotte and Temple Beth El. The goal is to improve race relations and ethnic understanding by having ministers of various races and faiths exchange sermons.

This marks the second year for the exchange, which was launched this year in honor of Martin Luther King Day.

Rabbi Judy Schindler of Temple Beth El, co-chair of the sermon exchange, said she hopes Charlotteans from all walks of life will “learn from religious leaders and communities of different backgrounds and act to create a city that is inclusive and embracing of all.”

All of the sermon exchanges are free and open to the public.
