Resolve for a new year
Last week we celebrated the birth of the true coming King, our Lord and Savior, Jesus
Christ. We have much to be thankful for, because all that we will ever be is as a result of our relationship with our Heavenly Father.
As we approach the coming year, some of us are writing our New Year’s resolutions. Some may resolve to give up habits or let go of hurts. Some may resolve to begin the year with a spirit of hope for things to come. Whatever you may resolve, let us resolve to praise God more, to love Him more, to do His will more and to be more of His light in a dark world.

Gracious God, Our Father,
We come with outstretched arms, thanking You for bringing us through another year. We come with outstretched arms, thanking You for watching over us as only You can. We come with outstretched arms, just to say thank You for accepting our praise to You.
We come with plenteous gratitude for protecting us from all that could bring us harm. We come with plenteous gratitude for giving us the strength to weather the challenges we face when we are in harms way. We come with plenteous gratitude because You always remind us just how much You love us.
We come with loud shouts of Hallelujah praises because You close the doors we need to stay away from and You open the doors You want us to go through. We shout Hallelujah because You create detours to redirect our attention to follow Your direction and purpose for us. We shout Hallelujah praises because You never leave our sides.
We come thanking you for being our Gate Keeper of protection. You are our Gate Keeper because Your Power surrounds and empowers us to let our light shine brighter. You are our Gate Keeper because Your mercy is the armor that covers us when we fall short of Your will. You are our Gate Keeper because Your grace is always available to us.
So, Father, with all that You give us, we resolve, Lord, to study Your word more. We resolve to walk more by faith than by sight. We resolve, Lord, to develop a stronger and deeper relationship with You. We resolve, Lord, to let our light shine more so that others will see Your Son, Jesus the Christ, in our lives. We resolve, Lord, to break down more barriers of social injustices. We resolve, Lord, to love others more unconditionally. We resolve, Lord, to be more humble. We resolve, Lord, to do more and ask for less. We resolve, Lord, to pray more! We resolve, Oh Lord, to trust You more and the world less. We resolve, Lord, to continue to follow You and our Savior, Jesus the Christ, more. And it is in the name of our Redeemer, Jesus, we pray this prayer. Amen, Amen and Amen
