Two Charlotte churches -- Covenant Presbyterian Church and C.N. Jenkins Presbyterian Church -- will join forces Nov. 6 for a day of community service.

During the day, members and volunteers will visit more than 50 sites, each committing themselves to at least two hours of work.

Organizers are calling the event impact Charlotte.

“It’s an intentional blending of congregations to fellowship and then serve the Charlotte community,” said Julie S. Rudisell, communications director of C.N. Jenkins.

Rudisell cited data show that Charlotte-Mecklenburg has more than 3,200 homeless children in a total homeless population approaching 9,000.

She described the event as a “chance to be among neighbors and to work alongside fellow Christians. A day of giving and caring that illustrates that we are all blessed to be a blessing.”

Projects will include work at both church campuses and at dozens of sites across the city, including Hope Haven, McCreesh Place, Crisis Assistance Ministry, Carolina Raptor Center, Highland Renaissance Academy and Jackson Park Ministries. A complete list of projects can be found on the CN Jenkins website www.cnjenkins.org.
