Q. What makes your church unique?
What makes it so special is the love of God that is here. When I came here eight years ago, my wife and I, we started at what we called ground zero. We didn’t hardly know anybody here, and in our first meeting we had 15 people. I laid out sort of the premise of the vision, and I said we’re going to keep things simple. We’re going to love God, and we’re going to love his children. And that’s been our spiritual compass ever since . We’ve not deviated from that. It is a special place. When people come here, they feel this saturating, caring, exciting love of God from the people, and we’re very open. We’re very relational. We smile at you. We shake your hand. We go beyond to make sure we connect with people. We have over 25 nations that are represented at World Worship Center. We are truly a multicultural church, and we make it clear that we’re all family. In the Kingdom of God there are no step-brothers, no cousins. We’re all brothers and sisters in Christ.
Q. What is the church’s vision?
Our vision is to lift up the name of Jesus Christ in praise and worship and in various ministries so that all people will be drawn to him. That’s the general statement of the vision. But our applicable vision is to really reach out—I want to see 50,000 people saved under the ministry of World Worship Center. That’s what I want, and I’m praying that for every other church, too. Our Church’s vision and mission is to be a strong, strong mother church here and raise up pastors, leaders, missionaries, evangelists, and send them to the other parts of the earth to fulfill the call of God on their lives. We’re in the process of purchasing more land close to us here where we’ll be putting up a big multipurpose building, a cafeteria, an incredible daycare, we’ll be having a preschool, we’ll be having a school of arts, a business school, and it’s all about equipping and empowering this generation.
Q. What are the church’s beliefs?
The church’s core beliefs are: One God revealed as Father, Son and Holy Ghost. We believe that Jesus Christ is the way, the truth and the life and no man cometh to the father but through him. We believe in the death, the burial, and the resurrection of Jesus Christ. We believe that the Church was born in the book of Acts where Jesus sent the disciples to the upper room and said tarry where you are until you’re endowed with power from on high. And then after that, miracles started happening, so we believe in the installing of the Holy Spirit. We believe in the gifts of the spirit also, along with the fruits of the Spirit. So we believe Jesus Christ still works miracles. He still heals.
Q. What ministries and programs are offered?
We have 40 ministries here, everything from children’s ministry to pre-teen ministry and teenage ministry. We have a senior ministry, which is awesome, called Prime Timers. We have a young adult ministry from ages 18 to 35 called Citizen. We have incredible fellowship groups. We have street ministry. We have community ministry, marriage counseling, an incredible prayer ministry, drama and arts -- that’s just to name a few.
Q. What are the greatest strengths of the church?
The greatest strength of this church are people who are in love with Jesus Christ. We’re not playing church. We’re not competing. We’re just trying to grow in Jesus Christ. And when somebody comes on a Wednesday or Sunday, they’re going to be bathed with the love of God through us, and we don’t care who they are or where they’re from. This is a church for everybody who loves the Lord -- rich, poor, whatever. The greatest strength is we have people who really, really care for people.
Q. How do you foster spiritual growth for individuals in the church?
One of the strengths also for World Worship Center, they’re going to experience an incredible praise and worship time while their kids are in their children’s church and we’re always going to preach a word that’s going to inspire them to think big, dream big, but most of all draw closer to God. And Wednesday nights, we call it School of the Word. We meet from 7 to 8:15. I love Wednesdays just as much as Sundays, because I love to teach the word. I love to go into depth of the word and go to the scriptures and really teach everything from knowing who God is—doctrine and theology—to end times to knowing how to be used of God to minister to people. So that’s really a strength of the church.
