Fear is often a roadblock that stops us cold and keeps us from reaching our full potential, or the purpose for which we were born.
So often we fail to heed that still, small voice that replays in our spirit. We fail to realize sometimes that the voice that continues the remix is our own personal cheering squad, encouraging us toward our destiny.
It doesn’t stop there. We begin asking others what they think. Don’t get the wrong; it is a good thing when we seek counsel, so long as we are also listening to and soliciting counsel from the ONE who thought of it first.
Some years back, I learned a very tough lesson. I came to realize, after much pain, that I had misplaced my faith, hope and trust. Rather than remembering what I knew to be true for my life, I got caught up listening to someone who used my faith as a tool of manipulation: “God told me to tell you…”
I allowed that voice to become my voice. Sadly, the result was the stagnation of my dream and purpose.
We must be careful where we place our trust. Is it a solid rock or sinking sand? When we loose sight of who we are and what we know we are called to do, we run the risk of failing to reach our destiny.
Jeremiah 29:11, one of my favorites, makes it all clear: “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.”
Once we understand what we are called to do, we must boldly decide that we are going to step into that “next.” We have already received the assignment; now our responsibility is to carry it out. Our lives prepare us for the contribution we are to make. Allowing anyone to convince you otherwise will derail your destiny.
Accept today that your life has prepared you for an amazing contribution. Someone or something is waiting for you. The contribution that you can make is only one that you can make. Don’t delay; boldly walk into your “next,” knowing that your gifts will make room for you.
