Long before the days of “In Living Color,” Shawn Wayans, the second youngest of the comedic 10-sibling Wayans clan, says he had dreams of doing comedy and never even considered doing anything else.

“Since we were little we always dreamed about it,” he told Qcitymetro.com. “We would dream and make our plan of what we were going to do and how we were going to get there. And then we followed it through.”

All the planning paid off and paid off well. In addition to touring and doing stand up comedy with younger brother Marlon, Shawn says he also in the lab, working on new projects and writing scripts. Qcitymetro.com caught up with the comedian while he was in town last week, and here is some of what he had to say.

Q: You work with your brother Marlon a lot. Do you consider yourselves to be the closest of your siblings?

No. We are all really close to each other. We are just the closest in age. So we have our own little comedic language together because we watched all the same television shows and experienced a lot of the same stuff together, so we have really good chemistry. But as brothers and sisters, we’re all very close.

Q: What are some of the things that you enjoy doing in your free-time to relax?

Absolutely nothing. In my free time, I find some place around the world that I want to go just to look at the ocean and chill.

Q: Earlier this year, you and your brother settled a lawsuit filed by a former employee who claimed that you and Marlon stole his jokes for your book “101 Ways to Know You’re a Gold Digger” How did you feel about that situation?

That was a joke in itself. How I feel about it, listen to Jay Z’s song “Why I Love You So” on his new album. And he pretty much speaks for how we feel about that.

Q: What are your plans for the holidays?

I’m going to hang out with my kids and try to make them have a happy special holiday.

Q: What tops your wish list?

I don’t have a wish list anymore. I make people’s wishes come true now - meaning my kids.
