So much to do ... so little time!

For the last few weeks, I've found myself trekking from one end of town to the other. It is just me, or is Charlotte exploding with unbelievable events?

Last week, I attended a wonderful reception at the Harvey B. Gantt Center for the Black Classic Film Series. Great news: This year, the film series is partnering with United Healthcare. Information will be provided before each film to help seniors gain a better understanding of their health care options.

At the event, the creator of the film series, film curator Felix Curtis, shared previews of upcoming classic screenings. (By the way, if you're a fan of Nat King Cole, Eartha Kitt, and the Legendary Sammy Davis Jr., you're in for a treat.)

Did you have the chance to check out The John Brown Big Band Concert at Spirit Square? If you didn't, shame on you! The band was awesome. Mr. Brown kept the audience engaged the whole evening with wonderful holiday music. Even the Grinch would have enjoyed the evening. The 4th Annual Charlotte Art and Craft show was also a weekend hit with amazing venues and artists. I hope you were able to purchase a few items for Christmas.

Lastly, are you familiar with The Call 2 Worship Community Choir of Charlotte? I had the pleasure of hearing the choir sing this weekend, and all I can say is how sweet the sound.

This is one of the busiest weekends in Charlotte — from the free Charlotte Bobcats Scrimmage match to the smooth jazz of David Benoit at CPCC. Enjoy the weekend and remember to be kind to one another.

Check out my weekend picks:

FRIDAY
Judge Shirley Fulton presents A Night of Smooth Jazz: Featuring Andrew Williams (who I hear is smoking) with special guest Juanita Word. I have been trying for the longest to get to the Carriage House at the Wadsworth Estate. I'm looking forward to attending, and I hope you can, too.

Location: The Carriage House at Wadsworth Estates (400 South Summit Ave.)
Cost: $10
Time: 8 p.m. Doors open at 7 p.m.

SATURDAY
5th Annual Jingle Bell Jam: Hosted by two of my friends, Lavetta Dawkins McDonald and Gerri Hampton Jackson. If you attended last year’s event, you know you're going to have a ball this year. My friend Buff Dillard and the Blend are the live entertainment, followed by Charlotte's DJ 06. Who could ask for anything more? This is an event you want to attend. Cash bar and appetizers are also available. Get jazzy and get there early.

Location: Hilton Charlotte University Place (8629 J.M. Keynes Drive)
Cost: $25
Time: 8:30 p.m.

SUNDAY
CAABJ's Christmas Celebration/Dessert Reception: The Charlotte Area Association of Black Journalist invites you to the Annual Christmas Celebration. Come out and help celebrate workshops, scholarship fundraisers and much more. Without your support, CAABJ would not be what it is today. Membership opportunities will also be available. Spread the word!

Location: Double Tree by Hilton, Gateway Village (895 West Trade St.)
Time: 6 p.m.-8 p.m.
Cost: Free for CAABJ members. $5 for non-members.
