A 'social butterfly' lands on Qcitymetro
I am what one might call a social butterfly.
Whether it’s a foreign film, bowling, wine tasting or jazz (just to name a few), I want to be
in the know and having fun. I live every day like it’s golden. I believe a stranger is just a friend I haven’t met.
I love being in the company of others who are passionate about what they do. I also believe that you are never too old to seize the moment. So here I am, trying something I’ve never done before.
Starting today I will be writing a weekly Qcitymetro.com column called “On the Town with Toni.”
I often hear people say there is nothing to do in Charlotte. I used to feel that way, too (New Jersey transplant). Every Monday morning I would ask friends and co-workers what they did for entertainment over the weekend.
Their answers were usually the same: Charlotte doesn’t have a lot of entertainment options. But when I did go out, I would find myself at fabulous events with low attendance.
That’s when I got an Oprah “Ah Hah” moment. I decided to post events I found on my Facebook page, and that’s how I came to write this column.
My goal is to let Qcitymetro readers know about some of the fun things happening around Charlotte. And the best part is that many of the events I’ll feature will be free or inexpensive.
So join me each Wednesday as I share some of my favorites. In fact, I encourage you to submit events that you may be hosting to events@qcitymetro.com.
Meanwhile, I’m looking forward to seeing you… On the Town with Toni.
