When Aja Pharr and Shawntez Davis met on July 13, 2009, at the home of his fraternity brother, they talked almost exclusively to one another. That was the beginning of a trend that continues to this day… with at least one minor exception.

They were at his birthday party a year later when Shawntez stood up to speak. Aja thought he was getting ready to make a birthday speech.

“She had that ‘I wish you would shut up,’ head-down position,” he recalled.

In fact, Aja turned around and started talking to a friend. But the words that came from Shawntez’s mouth left her speechless and in tears. He asked her to marry him!

They plan to wed on July 9, 2011.
