It's that time of year, and like many of you, the invitations to festivities have arrived — and I'm excited!

Last week, I attended the Jazzy Holiday Luncheon at the Westin Hotel. This event was hosted by the Harvey B. Gantt Center, who by the way did a magnificent job; what a delightful afternoon. The program was enjoyable and the food was delicious. This is by far one of my favorite annual events. I'm already looking forward to next year.

Well they "smashed" Fanz. I'm speaking of the band Peace & Love. Folks arrived as early as 6:30 p.m. … and the band wasn't performing until 9 p.m.! I arrived a little later and could not believe the huge turn out. Grown folks having a great time: priceless. If you didn't get a chance to attend, check the band out New Year's Eve. They’re performing again at Fanz. You may want to call in advance for the New Year Eve prices.

I also had the opportunity to spend time with my favorite group of ladies, The Charlotte Divas. We had afternoon holiday tea at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel. The menu included a variety of tea sandwiches and petits fours, along with great conversation. I love meeting new people, and several of the ladies were first-time attendees. If you missed the tea, don't fret: I'm planning another one in the near future, and I hope to see you there.

Check out my weekend picks:
