Bow Wow finally confirmed that the on-going rumor he fathered a baby with a video dancer and model named Joie is in fact truth, not fiction. Wednesday, he posted a letter to his fans on his official website, publicly acknowledging his daughter Shai for the first time.

The 24-year-old rapper, born Shad Moss, says he was worried about how his fans would react. “I waited so long to tell yall the truth because i was nervous on how yall would look at me,” he wrote. “Yall know everyone makes a big deal out of everything i do.”

As he has said before, Bow Wow says he feels he spoiled his adult years growing up too fast, and admits to contemplating suicide.

Bow Wow referred to his daughter as the “illest gift” of his life and credits her with bringing him closer to his mother. “Its like it made me into a man over night,” he wrote.

A week before Bow Wow decided to come clean, his mom blew his cover when she tweeted about her granddaughter. “Mr. 106 & Park” says don’t expect too many pictures of his “boo boo.” He said he wants to protect her and keep fame from getting in the way of her just being a kid and having fun.

He went on to say that he doesn’t like having to travel five hours see his daughter and wishes she could live with him, sans her mother. “Thats my dream man but fellas yall know how it go. Baby gotta stay with they momma and all dat bull,” he wrote. “I hate that!”
