Last weekend I headed over to Spirit Square for the Power of Music performance. I enjoyed the show but was blown away by Tawanda Robbins. Ms. Robbins was one of the opening performances, and she simply wowed the audience.
I also had the pleasure of enjoying singer Jason "Jetplane" Jones, and by the looks of things so did the female audience. Definitely check out Jason when he's appearing around town.
The Harvey B. Gantt Center is one of my favorite places, so I stopped there for the Classic International Black Cinema Series hosted by Felix Curtis. Last weekend’s film was “Siren of the Tropics,” featuring Josphine Baker. It was incredible! If you missed it, no need to fret. The Gantt Center will be screening a series of the talented Ms. Baker’s films over the coming weeks. I'll make sure to keep you posted!
