Music promoter Michael Kitchen knows what he likes.  He’s hoping that music lovers will share his taste when he brings his latest concept Sol Fusion
to Charlotte.

Set to debut on June 27 at Club Kiss, 204 W. Woodlawn Rd. Sol Fusion is billed as an  “Intercontinental  Lovefest.”  What’s that you ask?
“It’s bringing different people together to party through music, art and everything else,” said Kitchen.

Sol Fusion began 8 years ago in Atlanta and is the brainchild of founder J. Carter, a good friend of Kitchen’s.  As a music promoter, Carter noticed different ethnic groups in Atlanta partying to the same music but in different places. He decided to unite people through good music and make Sol Fusion a multi-cultural event.

It all sounds good but will the concept work in the Qcity – a place were partygoers are known to be fickle and don’t always support new concepts?

Both Kitchen and Carter say yes. Kitchen says it taken him five years to bring the event here and that was one of the reasons why. But he believes Charlotte is ready.

“It’s a matter of getting people to have an open mind and get out of doing the typical stuff.” In charlotte people are followers he says. Sol Fusion is more than renting a restaurant and getting a DJ.

The event will feature three DJ’s, and artwork from local artist. It will have a similar feel to the Arts, Beats and Lyrics even that was held here in Charlotte last month.

The first date here will be a scaled down version of what you would see in Atlanta Kitchen said but over time it will build up to the full scale version.

“The Atlanta version is a collage of everything and nobody is tripping. You have people from different walks of life who want to enjoy music and do something different.”

They’re expecting about 500 people and if it’s successful they’ll host the every other month.

“If you’ve got rock, soul, hip hop, disco – basically a mix of everything on your Ipod then Sol Fusion is the event for you, “ said Carter.

Tickets are on sale now and available at www.thesolkitchen.com or www.sol-fusion.com
