Today marks the start of the CIAA's off-court social scene. The menu of events will certainly multiply as the weekend nears, but we see no reason to sit around and wait.

Here are our top picks for Wednesday:

--The Ford Fan Experience opens at 5 p.m. at the Charlotte Convention Center. Enjoy fun and entertainment featuring a drumline exhibition by the Qcity’s own West Charlotte High School and West Mecklenburg High School. For your listening pleasure, R&B singer Joe hits the stage at 9 p.m.

--If you want to get your party week started, check out Poplife "The Tournament Editon" at Luna Lounge, 521 N. College St. This event is free and starts at 6 p.m. Special guest will be Grammy Award-winning producer 9th Wonder.
