Can you believe it's August? The summer is flying by, and with so many events around town, I tried my best to attend several last week.

First stop was a screening for the movie “Change-Up” at the Arboretum. If you enjoy crude comedy, this is the movie for you. I was very disappointed and left 45 minutes into the film.

I then headed down to Bull and Barrister for a live performance from the Destiny Brothers. If you haven't attended free jazz for grown folks at Bulls and Barrister, get there soon. I promise, you are bound to have a great evening.

I then attended Q Productions’ music kick-off at Spirit Square, which once again exceeded my expectations. All I can say is... Rudy Currence, what a gifted brother. He sang “God Bless the Child,” “My Funny Valentine,” and many more. I'm just saying; don't miss any events by Q Productions.

I did manage to see a great romantic film this weekend – “Crazy, Stupid, Love.” It was one of those movies where those characters come across each other's path. A refreshing film to which we can all relate, and with a surprising ending. I highly recommend you check it out this weekend.

Last but not least, the Sade and John Legend concert. I pondered most of the weekend whether to attend. I suffer from being claustrophobic, and the Time Warner arena is such a huge venue. My friend Audrey finally convinced me after describing the three Sade shows she attended in the past. Well, if you haven't heard by now, the show was off the chain! I felt like a giddy school girl at a Michael Jackson concert.

Sitting only feet away from Sade, the show started with much anticipation, followed by a cool breeze and flowing red silk cloths. Sade and the band rose up from beneath the stage, boom! I could hardly contain myself. Thankfully, the gentleman behind me was kind enough to say, “Do your thang, miss,” as I danced and sang the night away.

I'm telling you, if you missed this show you ought to be kicking yourself. But cheer up; there is the opportunity for you to attend a show Sept. 10 in Greensboro. If you miss that show, kick yourself twice!

Enough of me. Let's get to some events to explore this weekend:
