Managing diabetes is a full time job. The disease has to be managed constantly. It’s not easy. It can be frustrating, but it can be done.

According to the director of the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases, Dr. Griffin Rodgers, all it takes is a little planning to do it successfully.

He says you can start by setting one goal to work on – one that’s important to you, and something you’re willing and able to do.

"For example,” he said, “if you know you work late, it might not be a realistic goal to say that you’re going to go for a walk or run after work. Instead, you might try going out for a run or a walk in the morning."
