In her day, no female vocalist could compare to Ella Fitzgerald, aka, “The First Lady of Song.”

Starting Friday at Knight Theater in uptown Charlotte, Broadway veteran Tina Fabrique resurrects the jazz legend in “Ella,” a musical that “weaves myth, memory and music as it tells the uplifting and poignant story of one of the greatest jazz/pop vocalists of 20th century music.”

The show runs through Sunday.
