A mutual friend thought Pamela Murphy and Gary Lewis would make a good couple and introduced them. Gary was definitely not looking for commitment. He was a bachelor and loving it.

Pamela apparently was not in the market, either.

In fact, Gary said he spent the first two weeks chasing her down before he could even get an initial phone conversation.

Their first date was at the Rock-Ola Café. ‘It was not the most romantic first-date restaurant," Gary recalls, "but it was nice and I did pay and I did bring a rose."

Seven years later, they are engaged to be married.
