Happy 4th of July

Good Morning! Happy 4th of July. If you’re planning on spending the day in the Qcity, we’ve listed some of the best places to see fireworks tonight. And yes, the ABC Store and the banks are closed today. Read on to find out what’s open and what’s not. Hope you have a great time and a safe night!
Today, the weatherman is calling for lots of sunshine with the possibility of a thunderstorm or two this afternoon and highs in the mid 90’s.
Uptown, Baby
Venture to Center City to see the Qcity’s official fireworks show. Thousands of
people are expected to come out for the 20 minute display, which was ranked the 13th best in America according to AOL Travel. Family-friendly activities and live music start at 4 p.m. The Family Fun Fest at Memorial Stadium is free. Food and drinks are available for purchase. At 9:30 p.m., the fireworks begin. Tonight, “a group of Godly men” will be in attendance, walking the streets of uptown in a bid to deter youth violence.

Get your motors running
For a fee, you and your family can enjoy a day of fun at the Charlotte Motor Speedway’s Summer Shootout Series. There will be plenty of games for the kids and Lug Nut, the World's Fastest Mascot. Racing action takes place under the lights on the quarter-mile oval located on the speedway's frontstretch. Adult tickets are $7, children 6 to 12 are $3 and children 5 and under are free. A Day in the Park
Carowinds theme park is hosting their annual “Night of Fire” celebration. Spend t
he day riding the coasters at Carowinds or playing in the water park. Fireworks are set to go off as soon as the sun goes down. Insiders say the best spot to watch the display is from the comfort of your car in the parking lot. Active and retired U.S. military personnel receive free admission to Carowinds today. Over the Lake
Lake Wylie (3990 Charlotte Highway) also provides a very large annual display. Insiders say the best viewing is from the area around the Buster Boyd Bridge that crosses over the lake. There's also the boat landing and several restaurants, all of which will provide excellent viewing.
