When the news broke that Arnold Schwarzenegger had fathered a child with his long-time housekeeper Mildred Baena, many wondered if his wife Maria Shriver suspected anything was going on.

According to Baena, there was a buzz around the house about how much her son Joseph, who is now 13, resembled Schwarzenegger.

In an interview, the 50-year-old housekeeper told Hello! magazine that after putting two and two together, Shriver finally asked her point blank if Joseph was Schwarzenegger’s son. Baena said that’s when she broke down crying and confessed the truth.

In the article, Baena also says that she was not the one to tell Schwarzenegger he was the father and has no clue what his reaction was when he officially heard the news, but when the boy learned that Schwarzenegger was his father, Baena says, he replied “Cool!”

Baena added that she hopes Schwarzenegger and Shriver work things out.

“I have so much love and respect for Maria,” she said.

As for Schwarzenegger, she said, “He’s a good man, and I know he’s suffering too.”
