I saw it on the Web
We at the Q like to think of ourselves more as the Tom Joyner types. But we’re often amazed by the insights of rival Steve Harvey.
In this two-minute YouTube clip, Harvey laments that young black men no longer aspire to being “cool.” Being “hard” is what it’s all about today. And that, he says, has led to a disrespect for black women.
“We don’t talk to women smooth no mo’ because we ain’t cool no mo’,” he says. “Black men, we are the only race of people that degrade our women in our music.”
A special shoutout to Malcolm Scott Eustache at N.C. A&T University for hipping us to this groovy flick (That's cool talk for you youngsters who didn’t understand.)
