Jack and Jill event raised nearly $15,000 for local charities
For some, New Year’s Eve was simply an excuse to party. For the South Charlotte Chapter of Jack and Jill, it was a chance to party…while also doing some good.
The chapter, inducted last August, sponsored a New Year’s Eve bash at the Harvey B. Gantt Center that attracted about 350 people and raised about $15,000 for five local charities.
Chapter member Landra Johnson said this was the second year for the charity event. The group's first New Year’s Eve party was held to benefit the Gantt Center, she said.
Recipients this year will include: Junior League of Charlotte, March of Dimes, Hope Haven Inc., Gantt Center and Youth Homes/Children’s Home Society.
Johnson said the South Charlotte Chapter has about 60 members.
