Happy Friday, everyone.

As we begin to unwind for another Qcity weekend, I hope many of you were able to attend the play “Ain’t Misbehavin',” one of my picks from last weekend. (If you did, leave a comment below and let me know how you liked it.)

The cast was a sheer delight. Jessica Moss (kudos to my church member) has an amazing voice and is extremely animated! On Q Productions has something new right around the corner for us in the month of March. I’ll make sure to keep you posted.

Here are my picks for the coming weekend:

FRIDAY
Tavis Smiley -- broadcaster, advocate, publisher, philanthropist – will lecture on the campus of UNC Charlotte. He was named one of TIME’s 100 “Most Influential People in the World” in 2009, and his book Covenant with Black America became the first nonfiction title by a Black owned publisher to reach #1 on the New York Times bestseller list. Time: 6 p.m. Cost: free and open to the public. That’s right; I said free! Location: Knights Hall-Cone University Center. For more information, visit CharlotteCultureGuide.com.

SATURDAY
Shableek and Unkommon Jazz. Just say the name Shableek and folks will say, “Appearing where and when?” This is grown folks jazz, provide by Jazz Diva Tammy Greene. Best of all, there is no cover charge! This special event should definitely fit every budget. You may want to get there early. Bleek’s shows are full to capacity. Location: Bull and Barrister (3516 Mount Holly-Huntersville Rd) Time: 9 p.m. I hope to see you there! For more info email: carolinajazzdiva@gmail.com.

SUNDAY
Since this is Super Bowl Sunday and we already know the Steelers are going to win the championship, why not unwind before the game and see the play – “What My Husband Doesn’t Know.” Starring the handsome actor Brian White (Stomp the Yard) and singer Michelle Williams (Destiny’s Child), it looks likes like a Glen Close, “Fatal Attraction” mess! Where: Ovens Auditorium Time: 4 p.m. Cost: $28.50 and. $33.50. I hope to see you there! For more information, visit CharlotteCultureGuide.com.
