NBA lockout continues, more games canceled
The 2011-12 NBA season is one step closer to vanishing entirely after the announcement that 102 more games have been canceled. There will be no basketball on Thanksgiving. The newest cancellations stretch through Nov. 28.
After it seemed that the NBA owners and players were finally getting closer to reaching an agreement, the two sides now seem even further apart after the owners drew a line in the sand. According to reports, they are refusing to meet with the Players’ Union again until they agree to a 50-50 split of revenues.
Under the deal that was in place, players made more. The owners didn’t like that, and it was one of the reasons that lead up to the lock out in the first place.
As the season remains in jeopardy, some of the league’s top veterans stand to lose a lot. Many, including Kevin Garnett, Tim Duncan, and Jason Kidd, are in the final year of their contracts and may never reach their dreams of being inducted into the Hall of Fame.
Watch and discuss.
