Christmas is over, and I'm hoping you had a wonderful celebration with all the excitement and joy one would expect.

I've been out on the town much of this past week — from attending the Bobcats season opener to dinner with friends last night at Sullivan's Steakhouse, enjoying every moment and relishing the good times shared with others.

With the end of the year quickly approaching, the countdown has begun. I'm taking time to treasure new memories that will last a lifetime, while getting ready for opportunities awaiting me in the coming year. And one of the best preparations I know of is to believe, accept and receive that these great opportunities do await us. With that being said, I'm coming into 2012 with a "new attitude" and perspective — an attitude of expectancy and a perspective of nothing less than the best! And as singer Jill Scott says, I will continue to "Live my life like it's golden."

I would like to take the time to wish everyone a Happy New Year. Be safe in your travels. And, as always, be kind to one another as you delve into 2012.

Check out my weekend picks:

FRIDAY
The Charlotte Bobcats vs. Orlando Magic: I had the opportunity earlier this week to attend the Charlotte Bobcats game against Milwaukee. It was absolutely great fun for everyone. Carolina Panther quarterback Cam Newton (who isn't too hard on the eyes) was in the house … along with my favorite Yankee baseball player Derek Jeter. I think the old saying of “you don't miss your water until your well has run dry” is this year's theme with the NBA Season. Charlotte fans were hungry and excited. The game was spectacular! Parking is close by and reasonable. And discounted tickets can be found on the Bobcats website. (Plus: I'm definitely attending next month's Bobcats/Knicks game as we battle New York's Carmelo Anthony and his teammates.)
