This week, instead of enjoying myself on the town, I decided to volunteer and host a dinner event for the Samaritan House of Charlotte.

A few friends and I prepared a "soul food" meal fit for a king. There is nothing quite so rewarding as taking time to be a blessing to someone else.

We laughed and made new friends while enjoying fried chicken, potato salad, green beans and an array of desserts. This event was indeed the highlight of my week.

Yes, I've already set up another dinner event, which I'm calling Italian night, so you know what that means. Oh yes, if you feel the urge to volunteer, send me an email.

Here are my weekend picks:

Tim Meadows ~ Former Saturday Night Live comedian known for his outrageous characters such as Leon Phelps, The Ladies Man. Meadows will appear this weekend at the Comedy Zone. You'll definitely want to catch one of his shows and get you laugh on.
