Qcitymetro presents a screening of 'Disco Godfather' — starring Dolemite
SWEET! The Blaxploitation Film Series makes a comeback on June 12 — back to show another off-the-wall Blaxploitation “classic”!
And by "classic" we mean "a total piece of crap" … because SWEET! — the monthly film event sponsored by Qcitymetro.com and the local culture group Su Casa — is all about celebrating the best of the worst 1970s-era Blaxploitation films.
Which hilariously awful film are we showing this time around? Only one of the crowning achievements of “bad” cinema — “Disco Godfather,” starring the legendary comedian/rapper Rudy Ray Moore … aka Dolemite!
Never seen “Disco Godfather”? This “masterpiece” tells the incredible story of an ex-cop/disco DJ who goes on a one-man war against the scourge of angel dust. Seriously. Take a look at the trailer:
Pretty funny, right? Well, be sure to be in the place to see it live; we’ll be screening the film, playing music from the period, giving away door prizes — and we’ll even have free popcorn on hand.
$7 gets you in the door! Doors open at 7:30 p.m. And it all goes down at The Evening Muse, 3227 N. Davidson St.
