Looking for some weekend fun?

Our top pick this week is the Sprite Queen City Battle of the Bands.

Marching bands from six HBCUs will go head-to-head Saturday evening in Memorial Stadium. And it’s just in time for the start of football season.

This invitational showcase will features bands from Florida A&M University, Johnson C. Smith University, North Carolina A&T State University, North Carolina Central University, Shaw University and South Carolina State University.

At stake: Bragging rights, of course.

The show takes place at Memorial Stadium (310 N. Kings Dr.) from 7 to 9 p.m.

Tickets may be purchased for $15 in advance at www.ez-tixx.com and for $20 the day of the event at the stadium box office.
