Spike got documentary
It’s no secret that Spike Lee loves basketball.
The New York filmmaker produced the 1998 movie "He Got Game" and shot some memorial commercials featuring Michael Jordan. The diminutive New York Knicks fan also is frequently seen courtside at Madison Square Garden.
Now comes his latest hoops adventure -- a documentary of one game in the life of Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant. The film is called "Kobe Doin' Work." It premiered this week at the Tribeca Film Festival and will air at 8 p.m., May 16, on ESPN.
According to the Associated Press, Lee used 30 cameras to capture Bryant's every move in a game between the Los Angeles Lakers and the San Antonio Spurs on April 13, 2008.
Bryant later recorded a commentary for the film, describing his thought process behind every shot, every screen, every pass. As it happened, says the AP, Bryant laid down the commentary just hours after scoring 61 points against Lee's beloved Knicks in February.
