Spielberg to produce King movie
DreamWorks has acquired the movie rights to Martin Luther King Jr.'s life, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.
Steven Spielberg will co-produce the film along with Suzanne de Passe and Madison Jones. The movie will include King's “I Have A Dream” speech from the historic 1963 March on Washington.
“The King Estate is committed to working very closely with DreamWorks, Suzanne de Passe and Madison Jones to create the first major motion picture on the life of my father,” Dexter King, CEO of the King Estate, was quoted as saying in a statement released by DreamWorks.
The value of the deal to the King family and the cost of the movie project were not disclosed.
Spielberg has directed “The Color Purple,” “E.T” and Academy Award-winners “Schindler’s List” and “Saving Private Ryan.”
