The snow is gone; time for the weekend
It’s been a long week full of snow and much too much cabin fever. It’s now time to get ready for some well-deserved fun!
Here are my top picks for the weekend:
Friday
Saxophonist Walter Beasley is in town Friday evening for a one-night performance. Over
the past two decades, Beasley has artfully and dynamically redefined the phrase, "Musical Renaissance Man.” Diva Tammy Greene brings the Qcity fantastic jazz musicians. This is a show you don’t want to miss. Where: Pease Auditorium (CPCC Main Campus) Time: 8 p.m. Cost: $35.00
Saturday
Looking to find another way to take pride in your community? Join in the celebration of the 2011 Pride Awards for outstanding citizens. This year's honorees are: Eric Watson, vice president of the office of diversity & inclusion, Delhaize America; Denise Howard, a community outreach nurse practitioner; and Cidney Holliday, a senior at South Mecklenburg High School. Where: The Westin Hotel (601 S. College St.) Time: 6 p.m. Cost: $200 ticket
Sunday
The Legacy Tribute to the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. Tickets are still available for this
spectacular event. Singer Kelly Price is performing along with local mass choirs. I know we are in for an awesome treat! I hope to see you there. Where: Knights Theater (430 S. Tryon St) Time: 7:30 p.m. Cost: $18.50-$27.50.
