This gift idea is in the bag
The Miss Pretty Perfect handbag collection, designed by La Toya Stevens, is simply
delicious -- the perfect gift for the stylish woman who just so happens to love handbags.
Each of these one-of-a-kind bags has a feminine name and a story of its own. All are made of upholstery fabric patchwork and leather combinations. Stitching is done with extra-strong upholstery thread and is meticulously constructed. Prices range from $20 (wallets and makeup pouches) up to $375 for a handbag.
Closest to La Toya's heart is the Courtrina, a bag she named after her mother, who taught her to sew at age 5. La Toya has been hooked on fashion ever since.
She previous worked sewing bags for a private-label designer in Union Square (NYC) then returned to North Carolina in 2007 to launch Miss Pretty Perfect. She is now the brains behind the bags, the talent behind the totes, and this spring she will launch a women's wear collection.
I'm thinking that if her handbags serve as the slightest indication of how beautifully crafted the collection will be, look out Qcity... I can hardly wait.
As a die-hard fan of large over-the-shoulder bags, my personal favorite, "Amelia," is perfect for overnight travel, shopping or simply holding all the essentials of a busy woman like me. I have renamed it "Mine," but if you would like one of your own, check out the Miss Pretty Perfect Web site at www.missprettyperfect.etsy.com.
