Did you attend the jazz show with Alexander Zonjic and Jeff Lorber last Friday at Pease Auditorium? These two magnificent artists played for two hours, and I could have easily stayed for two more.

Yes, I wondered at first how entertaining a flutist could be. Jazz Diva Tammy ensured me I wouldn't be disappointed. Well, they rocked the house.

Mark you calendar for December 17 -- A Charlie Brown Christmas with pianist David Benoit at CPCC's Halton Theater. Tickets are still available and you don't want to miss out.

Like many of you, I started early enjoying the Thanksgiving holiday. I made my way to a shooting range, which is fast becoming a hobby. It was a bit intimidating at first with shooters on both sides of me, but I'm getting the hang of it. Perhaps you'll join me in the near future.

Happy Thanksgiving. Keep in mind that depression is never easy, but it's especially hard during the holidays. Make an effort to include those who may not ordinarily be on your list -- neighbor, co-worker, elderly, singles, ex and downright mean folks! I'm hearing so many wonderful stories about what many of you are thankful for, what we are cooking and where we are going. In the spirit of giving, be kind to others.

Here are my weekend picks:

FRIDAY
Mummies of the World Exhibition ~ I'm hearing so many great reviews of this exhibit. More than 40 mummies. The largest exhibition of real mummies ever assembled. If you are not into Black Friday shopping, learn how modern science enables researches to study mummies. This exhibit will be at Discovery Place through April 8. Make sure to check out the IMAX Theater.
Location: Discovery Place (301 N. Tryon)
Cost: Prices vary. Please check the website
Time: 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.
More info: www.discoveryplace.org/about/ or (704) 372-6261

SATURDAY
The Black & White Affair ~ R&B songstress Meli'sa Morgan, crooner/actor Christopher Williams and original first lady of Def Jam records Alyson Williams will be performing live at the Westin Charlotte. This after-Thanksgiving celebration will be hosted by Preston Miles of V101.9's Love Zone. This event is sure to be a great evening for couples and singles.
Location: The Westin (601 S. College Street)
Cost: $40 - $80
Time: 9 p.m.
More info: For more information, visit CharlotteCulureGuide.com or call 704 372-1000

SUNDAY
The Kevin Jones Experience ~ Vocalist Kevin Jones will be at Pewter Rose. If you love the vocals of singer Al Jarreau, you are in for a treat with Mr. Jones. I was blown away when he performed “My Funny Valentine” a few weeks ago. Joe Allen on guitar, Jim Hunt on piano, Michael Sudread on bass, and special guest Michael Porter on flute. Get there early.
Location: Pewter Rose (1820 S. Blvd)
Time: 7 p.m.
Cost: $10. Early Bird Special, $5 between 6 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.
