As you may know, I really enjoy listening to live bands. Music seems to motivate folks to sing along and maybe even shake their groove thing.

Last weekend I had an opportunity to enjoy the band U-Neek Flavur with a few friends at Buffalo Wings Café. I actually stayed until the band packed up after finishing their last set. Really had a great time! Check them out if you have the chance.

I also attended the Harvey B. Gantt Center for the classic film “Sugar Cane Alley,” followed by an educational Q&A session. I will keep you posted for next month's series on the legendary Josephine Baker.

For all the fathers out there, I would like to wish each and every one of you a happy Father's Day. Although it's a somber day for me, I still reminisce about fond memories of having such a wonderful Dad. Take the time to appreciate Pop this weekend. Fathers are priceless gifts often taken for granted.
