Charity event at Morton's to benefit UNCF

Gerald Henderson of the Charlotte Bobcats will be the guest maitre d’ Monday night at a Charity event benefiting the United Negro College Fund.
The event, at Morton’s steakhouse in uptown Charlotte, includes a three-course meal for $75 (not inclusive of tax and gratuity).
The restaurant is partnering with five local charities as part of its bi-annual Philanthropy Week. Morton’s will donate $25 per guest and 10 percent of bottled wine sales to a different charity each evening.

Monday, Oct. 17: UNCF
UNCF's mission is to build a robust and nationally-recognized pipeline of under-represented students who, because of UNCF support, become highly-qualified college graduates and to ensure that our network of member institutions is a respected model of best practice in moving students to and through college.
Tuesday, Oct. 18: Teach for America
Teach For America is growing the movement of leaders who work both nationally and in the Charlotte area to ensure that kids growing up in poverty get an excellent education.
Wednesday, Oct. 19: American Red Cross
The Greater Carolinas Chapter, one of a network of more than 600 Red Cross chapters nationwide, is the largest in the Carolinas - serving nearly 1 million people with three service centers in the metropolitan area: Charlotte, Lake Norman area and Statesville.
Thursday, Oct. 20: Make a Wish Foundation
The Make-A-Wish Foundation of Central & Western North Carolina’s mission is to grant the wishes of children with life-threatening illnesses to enrich the human experience with hope, strength, and joy.
Friday, Oct. 21: Carolina Breast Friends
Carolina Breast Friends mission is to encourage and support women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer or are breast cancer survivors through monthly meetings, distributing “comfort bags”, and mentoring programs.
Saturday, Oct. 22: Liz Murray Scholarship Fund
In honor of Liz Murray, American inspirational speaker who is best known as having been homeless in her youth and overcoming her hardship to achieve success, the scholarship was established to recognize local students who distinguish themselves on the playing field, in the classroom and in the community, the fund has, to date, awarded more than $175,000 to some 150 local high school students to further their education.
