Last week I attended 100 Black Men of Charlotte's fundraiser. My heart smiled as I watched and applauded the young men on stage, our future leaders.
I was equally impressed to see so many members of that organization in attendance, men who obviously take pride in making a huge contribution to the community. A special thank you for all you do.
As for the Boyz II Men concert, it was simply fabulous. After 20 years, they still held it down, from their "back in the day" Motown feature to their hit song “Mama.” This four-time, Grammy-winning group kept the crowd on their feet. Their romantic touch and appreciation of red roses for the ladies in the audience also was refreshing. I'm looking forward to their next visit to Charlotte. Meanwhile, check out their new CD when you can.
If you haven't heard by now, CNN anchor and special correspondent Soledad O'Brien will be appearing at UNC Charlotte Thursday evening. This event is free with student ID and $15 for the public. She’ll discuss diversity on television. The event is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. in the Student Union Multipurpose Room. For additional info, call 704 687-7152 or go online at http://cab.uncc.edu/
