Woman of Style
Kimberly Edmonds is a true fashionista. Whether she’s out on the town or handling her business as the partner for Y Square Management, the petite 31-year-old always looks the part. Her ability to be versatile makes her a trendsetter.
Here are her style essentials.
***
Q. How would you describe your style?
Classy, Eclectic, Sexy, Innovative and Eccentric.
Q. What celebrities’ style do you most admire?
Myself…no, but Jada Pickett Smith; that’s my girl when it comes to fashion. She knows how to switch it up and rock whatever she decides to wear. I would call her fashion “soul soft sista.” She’s classy, she’s original, and her style is daring, jazzy, glamorous, simple, bold and very natural. No matter what she is wearing, she knows how to “kick it” in her gear.
Q. Where do you shop?
Everywhere! Especially boutiques. Locally I would say Boris & Natasha’s. I love that store… Even in a last-minute situation they always comes through for me, and Hope is
the best when it comes to customer style assistance.
Q. Are you into specific designers?
No, I don’t have a pinpoint fashion designer, but I would rather say I am very appreciative to designers who are creative and inspired by their patterns and art designs. That what makes the pieces I wear so valuable.
Q What’s your favorite accessory?
My Y Square diamond charm, which is my company logo. Y Square is an algebra term, which means “to the second power.” This is representative of those relationships that are true in kind and great in magnitude. It also represents two dynamic women -- my business partner, Yolanda Belser, and myself, who’s influential in cultivating God’s people.
Q. Jewelry or no Jewelry?
Jewelry. I got to have Jewelry. It doesn’t have to be much or flamboyant, but some pieces to complement my clothing attire.
Q. Are you a shoe fanatic?
Absolutely, I am. I can’t count them. I have tons of shoes. Love the shoes!
Q. What item in your wardrobe can’t you live without?
All of them. When I buy clothes, I buy them with the mindset of keeping them in longevity. I switch my clothing items up. You would think I got something brand new because I bring it out whenever I choose too. I believe I will always be that way until I wear the item out and have no choice but to get rid of it…but we will see as I work toward my millions of dollars.
Q. What’s your latest fashion obsession?
Shopping for “flowy” or loose dresses. They make me feel so great to be a woman, feminine and free.
Q. What’s your latest fashion splurge?
Shopping on Lexington Ave in New York.
Q. Name three items you think every stylish woman should own?
A fancy black dress, pearls and something purple -- it’s royal, distinctive, regal, shocking and brilliant.
Q. What’s in your makeup bag?
Plenty of eye shadows from Mac and Loreal, lots of lip gloss from Mac, aerie, Victoria Secrets, and my Christian Dior blush brush, the absolute best when applying foundation or blush.
Q, Do you wear perfume?
Yes, my favorite is Hanae Mori Butterly. You can find it only in these Charlotte locations: Nieman Marcus in SouthPark or Sephora, also in SouthPark. Gentleman, hint, hint.
Q. How do you maintain your hair?
My hair is natural, so the best hair-care products I would recommend is WEN. You have to order online or by phone. The best-kept secret to taking care and managing healthy hair - Carols Daughter hair milk and Aveda Universal Hair moisturizer.
Q. How do you pamper yourself?
Eat lots of sweets and drink coffee. I like chocolate cake, cheesecake, pies, tarts and the list goes on.
Q. What style rules do you live by?
Wear clothes that accentuate your body and being. Identify yourself in the state of your clothing, so that you feel comfortable in what you’re wearing. Wear the fashion item and don’t let it wear you; hold your head up high.
