Bettye Davis McCain entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, January 2, 2013.

Bettye was born June 5, 1942, in Waynesboro, GA, and was the daughter of the late George and Alberta Singleton Davis. She is survived by her husband, Franklin McCain Sr.; her three sons, Franklin Jr. (Vicki), Wendell (Lori) and Bert (Keisha); six grandchildren, Taylor, Mac, Davis, Charles, Alayna and Amanda; and by her sisters, Gwendolyn Kettles, Shirley Peek, Joan Washington, Joyce Bennett, W. Dorothy Davis, Pamela Daniels and Daisy Porter.

Bettye is a graduate of Bennett College and served as an educator and Principal with Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools for over 30 years.

Visitation is Monday, January 7, 2013 at 2 p.m. The funeral service will begin at 3 p.m. at Friendship Baptist Church, 3400 Beatties Ford Rd, Charlotte, NC, 28216. Interment will be at Oaklawn Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Bettye D. McCain Scholarship Fund at Bennett College in Greensboro N.C.
