Charles Clyburn Jr. was born February 21, 1951, to Charles and Henrietta Clyburn of Charlotte. He went home with the Lord on September 12, 2010.

Charles attended Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and graduated from UNC Charlotte with a BA in human services. He was employed as a substance abuse counselor with Mecklenburg County for 15 years. Charles also facilitated substance abuse sessions at Victory Christian Center’s church in the city.

Charles leaves to cherish him memory: his parents, Charles and Henrietta; three children, Annette, Aisha and Ahmad; a devoted fiancé, Valerie Williams (Teonia); four sisters, Saundra Lyles, Diane Robinson, Juanita Mobley (DeWitt) and Debra Carr; and one brother, Derrick Clyburn (Althea). He also leaves three nephews, four nieces, five aunts and a host of other relatives and loved ones.

Mr. Clyburn’s funeral was held on Thursday, September 16 at Victory Christian Center (Dome)
