Mr. Blakney was born March 29, 1960. He passed away at his residence on September 27, 2010.

He was born to Mrs. Evingerlean J. Blakney and the late Joe L. Blakney, Sr. in Hartsville, SC. He was preceded in death by his father, brother, Joe and daughter, Kendra.

Mr. Blakney began his career journey with the City of Charlotte in 1979. He was in the process of retiring next month.

Survivors include his mother, Evingerlean Blakney, two daughters, Teresa Anderson and Tanaya Frazier, three sisters, JoAn Blakney, Norma Blakney, both of Charlotte, NC, and Patricia Hough (Eddie) of McBee, SC, two brothers, Donald Blakney, Sr. and Alvin Blakney, both of Charlotte, one stepson, Anquinn Frazier, of Charlotte, NC, two grandchildren, Kennedi and Kingston, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.


Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 2, 2010 at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, 1401 North Allen Street, Charlotte, at 1:00 p.m., with Pastor Gregory K. Moss, Sr. officiating. Quiet hour will be from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. Burial procedures will be held at North Pinewood Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the home, 6722 Montieth Drive.

Services are entrusted to Alexander Funeral Home.
