Ernest Alford Jr. of Charlotte passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 1, 2011 at Carolinas Medical Center following a long term illness.

A real estate professional by trade, he will be remembered for his friendly, engaging spirit, as a dependable role model, and his devotion to friends, family, and community. His survivors include his beloved wife of 42 years, Nello Hamlin Alford; children, Crystal Alford, Tonya Alford Kittur and husband Ashwin, Ernest Alford III and wife Kirsten; brother, Tony Alford and wife Hilda; and four treasured grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 11am - 12 pm on Thursday, October 6, 2011 and a celebration of life will follow at 12 pm at the Friendship Missionary Baptist Church 3400 Beatties Ford Rd with Reverend James R. Covington, Jr. officiating.

The family wishes to thank the staff and nurses of Metrolina Nephrology Clinic and Carolinas Medical Center - Main for their tireless hours of care.
