Mrs. Helen Pride Williams departed this life on Sunday, February 6, 2011 at Saturn Nursing and Rehabilitation in Charlotte, N.C. She was 95 years old.

Mrs, Williams was born in Mecklenburg County on April 24, 1915, to the late Julius and Cora Beatty Pride. On December 10, 1936, Helen married John Williams, who preceded her in death in 1960.

Helen grew up in the Paw Creek area of Charlotte. She was educated in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School System, attending Woodland Elementary and Second Ward High School. She was a teacher's assistant in the Charlotte Mecklenburg School System, retiring in June 1978.

She leaves to cherish fond and loving memories a son, Worth Williams; a daughter, Sarah Williams Morrison (Charles); grandchildren, Rhonda Morrison Redfearn (Lee), Raechon Morrison and Adrienne Williams; three great-grandchildren; special nephews, Curtis White and Vernon Wilson; best friend, Mrs. Elouise McCray, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be Wednesday, February 9, 2011 at 1 p.m. at Walls Memorial AME Zion Church.  Visitation is from from 12:30 p.m. to 1 p.m.

Interment will be in the church cemetery.

Alexander is serving the Williams family.
