Mervin Eugene Nelson of Charlotte died at home peacefully in the arms of Jesus on July 22, 2011. He was 63 years old.

Mr. Nelson was the son of Charles and Reece Nelson, who preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death were two brothers: Victor and Dennis Nelson, also of Charlotte.

He leaves behind a daughter, Barbara Poux of Concord; two sisters, Arnetta Austin of Charlotte and Dianne Powell (Doshey) of Washington DC; and a brother, William G. Nelson of Charlotte. He also leaves behind two granddaughters and a host of relatives and friends.

Visitation will be Tuesday, July 26, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Long and Son Mortuary Chapel, 2312 Beatties Ford Road, Charlotte (704-394-1111).

A home-going service will be held at Eastway Church of God, 1131 Eastway Drive, Charlotte, on Wednesday, July 27, at 11 a.m. (704-536-3709)
