Mrs. Virginia Wilson Royster passed away on Monday, March 28, 2011 at her home with her very devoted and loving family by her side.

Virginia was born in Mars Hill, NC, on February 29, 1936. She received her education in the public schools of Madison County. Virginia was baptized at a young age at Mt. Olive Baptist Church. After moving to Charlotte, she and her late husband, William Edward Royster, joined East Stonewall AME Zion Church. She later moved her membership to Moore’s Sanctuary AME Zion Church, where she remained a faithful and active member until her health declined.

Virginia was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She was blessed with a beautiful personality and was a very pleasant, encouraging and nurturing spirit. She enjoyed traveling, shopping, browsing flea markets and spending time with family and friends.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Todd Royster; her parents, Helen and Walter Wilson; her brother, Harlan Wilson; and her sister, Frances Briscoe.

She leaves in deep sorrow but with loving and comforting memories her son, Stephon Royster; her daughter, Tasha Royster of Charlotte; daughter-in-law, Sheila Royster of Concord NC; sisters, Lorraine Wilson, Eloise Wilson, Ada Wilson, and Debra Wilson of Knoxville, TN; and Peggy Person: brothers, Charles Wilson and Walter Wilson of Charlotte. She is also survived by five grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and devoted friend, Mrs. Ann Hall, special granddaughter, Jasmine Royster, and daughter in love, Mary Edwards.

A funeral service is scheduled for Friday, April 1, at 1 p.m. at Moore’s Sanctuary A.M.E. Zion Church, 4101 Morris Field Dr., Charlotte. The family will receive visitors at the church from 12:30 p.m. to 1 p.m.

Interment will be in Gethsemane Memorial Gardens.
