Mrs. Rachel Marcello Sturdivant Forte', 89, was born January 7, 1922, to the late Velma Sturdivant Jackson and raised by her grandfather, the late Button Sturdivant. She joined in holy matrimony with the late Marion Forte'. This union brought to life eleven children; 30 grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren.

Rachel attended school in the Anson County school system. In her earlier years she and her husband joined Long Pine Baptist Church in Wadesboro, NC, but after moving her residency to Charlotte, she joined Temple Baptist Church.

She is predeceased in death by her husband, Marion Forte', her elder son, Nathaniel Forte' and daughter Dossie Mae Forte'.

She leaves behind to cherish her fond memories: five sons, Marion T. Forte' (Mattie), Eugene "Gene" Forte' (Joyce), Larry T. Forte' (Annie Ruth), Eddie Mack Forte', and Freddie L. Forte' Sr. (Ruby); four daughters, Velma Jackson, Clara Ligon (Michael), Rachel Ann Howze (James), Judy Forte' and Alberta "Venia" Forte', all of Charlotte; one sister, Margaret Brown and extended family, and one brother, John W. Jackson (Bernice) of Hackensack N.J.; three sisters-in-law, Mae Collins, Hallie Hinson (Clarence) and Marion Leake Forte'; two brothers-in-law, Johnny "Ben" Forte' (Viola) and Alfonzo Forte; (Luevia); a loving and dear friend, Mrs. Marion Gatewood, and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Funeral service will be Tuesday, June 28, 2011, 1 p.m. at Temple Chapel Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. -1 p.m. at the church. Burial will be in York Memorial Park Cemetery.
