At least two more Carolinas residents are hoping the Diddy machine will lead them to fame.

Wilson teens, Jamereo Artis and Gregory Cox, are hopefuls on Diddy’s newest reality show, “Making His Band,” according to the (Raleigh) News & Observer.

The premise: Diddy is looking for musicians to form a back-up band to support Dirty Money, a trio featuring Diddy and Dawn Richard, of Danity Kane fame.

Cox is a keyboard player; Artis is a bass guitarist. They both seem determined to make it big, but is this the right avenue?

I love Diddy’s “Making The Band” series; it’s compelling TV. But the music -- ehh -- leaves much to be desired.

Da Band, Diddy’s first manufactured group, fizzled before it even got off the ground. Day 26 (with whom Gaffney, S.C., native Mike McCluney has found a home) hasn’t quite reached its expected level of success, despite debuting at No. 1.

Arguably the most successful “MTB” band has been Danity Kane, the only female group to see its first two albums debut at No. 1. But even they met their demise after Diddy disbanded the group and let everyone except Richard out of their Bad Boy contracts.

We’ll see how things play out for Artis and Cox, beginning tonight, when “Making His Band” premieres at 10 p.m. on MTV. But for now, what are you expecting from the series?

Yeah, like I said, I'm not feeling too optimistic about this one. I don't want to speak too soon because I haven't seen any episodes yet. But judging by the track record, what we'll have is a interesting and funny season of TV from Diddy and a bunch of winners that will end up losers two years down the road.
