Chris Brown not “a monster,” says Chris Brown

It seems Rihanna’s ex wants his “real fans” to know two things: 1) he’s not a bad guy and 2) he’s got a new album planned for ‘09.

In a video recorded with Bow Wow, Brown says he’s working on a new album, “Graffiti,” which has “everything on it,” and he’ll have a single out this summer.

He then goes on to say “everybody that’s haters, they just been haters. All my real fans, I love y’all. I ain’t a monster.”

Now, I won’t get into the debate surrounding his assault charges, but I do want to ask, family: Can Brown’s new record do well? Will you at least give it a fair listen?

Scandal doesn’t necessarily spell doom for celebs (ask R. Kelly and Michael Jackson), but Brown has had to endure quite a bit a criticism this year. Will Rihanna sympathizers be too much for him to overcome? Or will his comeback be one for the ages?

First off, this was the most bootleg video ever. What was he thinking? And two, I'm on the side that believes he won't be able to come back. He won't flop but he will not be anywhere near the pop star he once was or was on the way to becoming.

To be honest, I'll give Chris Breezy a chance. Remember when The Boondocks came up with the best argument for blaming the artist for their actions? And still with all the evidence and eye witnesses in that episode, the point of the matter was that people love great music. It keeps us up when we're down, makes us think critically and gets us in the 'mood.' So, let's all be real with ourselves. You know if CB comes out with some real head banger music, you're going to download it. You're going to play it in your car. You're going to grind on a 'possible' in the club. It's human nature. The diehards will buy it regardless, but I truly believe that he will still be an upcoming star as long as he keeps his temper tantrums - whether they be provoked or not - to himself.
